To this end, the “planning” clearly put forward the next 8 years the development of the southern power grid, the six main objectives:
One is steadily from west to east. By 2015, China Southern Power Grid built eight AC eight straight from west to East in the transmission channel, transmission reached 39.8 million kilowatts; by 2020, to build six to eight transmission channel, satisfy Yunnan and Southeast Tibet and neighboring countries Hydropower to Guangdong, Guangxi power transmission requirements.

Considering the safety of power grid, transmission efficiency, economic and other factors, to 2020, existing five provinces (regions) synchronized power grid will gradually form of moderate size, clear structure, relatively independent of the two synchronized power grid. By 2020, the 500 kV variable electric capacity of more than 2. 9 million KVA, line length of more than 48000 km; 220 kV variable electric capacity more than 4. 6 million KVA, line length more than 9.2 million km, 110 kV variable electric capacity more than 4. 6 million KVA, line length of more than 13 million kilometers.
Four is to improve the quality of power grid service. By 2020, the grid security and stability, power supply reliability and economic indicators to further enhance, the urban and rural user power supply reliability rate more than 99.92% and 99.97%, respectively, the part of the focus of the city grid technology and equipment and reliability reached the international advanced level.
Five is to improve the level of energy efficiency of power grid. By 2015, five provinces (regions) 500 kV and 220 kV transmission network than the current average transmission distance relationship and 12% to 13%, the average power supply radius of distribution network of 110 kV and 10 thousand volts relationship 8% and 23%, integrated power transmission and distribution losses rate of not more than 7.75%. By 2020, the clean energy obtained by high performance, energy-saving scheduling, staggering with electricity and other energy efficiency measures are widely used, in the west to east to send to further expand the scale of, integrated power transmission distribution loss rate and strive to improve.
Six is to promote the construction of smart grid. To 2020, urban distribution network automation coverage rate reached 80%; application of micro grid technology to solve the island and reliable power supply problem; the basic realization of information standardization, integration, real-time, interactive power grid. It adapts to the development of new energy and electric vehicles to ensure the 2015 10 million kilowatts of wind power, 500 million kilowatts of solar power, 2020 45 million kilowatts of wind power, 13 million kilowatts of solar power without obstacle grid; built to meet the 2015 10 million vehicles in 2020, 100 million electric vehicles development needs of the infrastructure system.
To achieve the above objectives, “plan” identified steadily provinces channel construction, perfect provincial transmission network, strengthen the construction of urban and rural distribution network, and actively promote the construction of smart grid, vigorously promote technological progress, ensure the safe and stable operation of the system, actively carry out cooperation in the surrounding power, improve the power grid emergency system of eight key tasks.
